How is Median different than Zoom, Meet, or Teams?



The main difference is that Median easier and faster. Median allows you to join your customers screens without invites, downloads or installs.

If a customer is on your site, you can pop on their screen.

Other popular screen share tools require a number of steps before you can see your customers screen and start supporting them.

What is cobrowsing?



Cobrowsing is short for collaborative browsing which means 2 or more people on the same website at the same time.

Think of Cobrowsing as web-based screen share. Instead of using heavy desktop applications, cobrowsing uses standard web based software to deliver a better faster screen share experience.

Can I see all the browser tabs or the desktop?



No. Median only works on the pages the Median code is installed on.

If all the browser tabs are the same website and the Median code is installed, then yes! You will be able to screen share across all the tabs the Median code is installed on.

Does it work across page loads?



Yes, Median uses cookies to identify visitors. As a visitor moves through a site the Median viewer will automatically update based on the page they are on. This also works if a visitor has multiple tabs open to the same website. Median will follow the viewer based on the tab they are actively looking at.

Does Median require permissions to screen share?



Yes and no, we have options in our settings menu that let our customers decide if they would like to ask for permission or not.

It's up to our customers to obey their local laws and regulations.

What about Personal Identifiable Information (PII)?



Since Median is a code embed, it can easy be added or removed from any page on your website. If a page has PII on it then simply remove the Median code and that data will never be transmitted in the screen share.

Also, inside our privacy settings an admin can select any piece of their website they wish to be removed from the screen share.

Lastly, Median does not record any session data. Once a screen share session is over, all proof that it happened is terminated.

Is Median CCPA & GDPR compliant?



Yes. That was easy.

Will Median slow down my website?



Nope! Median is a JavaScript app that is designed to load after your website loads. As a result Median should have virtually zero impact on your website's performance.

Can I send data to Median?



Yes, Median can ingest custom data via our identify API found here
(https://developer.hellomedian.com/#identifying-visitors).

This is the same API we use to integrate with tools like Intercom, Drift, LiveChat, Tawk.to and more.

Do I need a chat tool to use Median?



No, Median works great without a chat tool. The default Median dashboard will show all the visitors on your site in real time and you can screen share with them by clicking their IDs.
